Confidentiality between client and therapist is crucial to establishing a trusting relationship. It is also protected by law. Any information shared in sessions will remain confidential however, there are some exceptions. I am legally required to report in the following situations:
Suspected child or elder abuse
Imminent physical harm to self or others
A client may also voluntarily require that information be shared with others such as medical providers, schools, etc., in which case an expressed written consent will be required.
